| Jane Colbourne is from an old Devon family. After receiving a degree in Politics from the University of Southampton, Jane’s early career was in the advertising industry in London. |
| She has worked as an antiques dealer for more than 15 years both in London and in the West Country. She has a popular stall in Tavistock’s historic pannier market, stands at fairs in Devon and Cornwall and also sells from a space in an antiques shop. |
| She attends a wide range of auctions and sales up and down the West Country and as a general antique dealer Jane has a wide knowledge of a broad range of English and other antiques. |
| Jane has excellent links in the antiques trade and an intimate knowledge of Devon and Cornwall’s auctions and fairs as well as the highways and byways of the region. She also has a wide network of private collectors in the region. |
| She and her husband, a graphic artist-turned-thatcher and lime-plasterer, live in a 17th century farm cottage filled with many delightful antiques with which Jane has been unable to part. Jane is a parish councillor in our village, Northlew. |
| Marilyn Livingstone (distantly related to the explorer Dr David Livingstone) is an historian who was born in Canada but has lived in the UK for 20 years. Marilyn has a B.A. in History/History in Art from the University of Victoria, an M.A. in Medieval Studies from the University of London and a PhD in the economic history of 14th century England from The Queen’s University of Belfast. |
| With her husband, author Morgen Witzel, she has written The Road to Crecy: the English invasion of France,1346 (Longmans, 2004) and Crusaders (Yale University Press, 2009). She has acted as an advisor to authors about the Middle Ages and appeared on the South Bank Show's profile of the writing of Ken Follett's book, World Without End in 2007 (on ITV in the UK). |
| As well as her specialist expertise in the medieval period, she has a particular interest in buildings (both secular and ecclesiastical), the landscape of the English countryside and the records of the past. Marilyn has over 15 years experience in delving into the documentary riches that English record offices offer and can read handwritten documents in Latin, French or English. |
| She is choir mistress and secretary of Northlew parish church and a cornet player in the local silver band. |
